A Rycroft teen injured in a two-vehicle crash south of Fairview, Alta. on Sunday has died from his injuries, RCMP said.

The 17-year-old boy died at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. Police were notified about his death on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 9:50 a.m. Sunday morning, the teen was driving a pickup truck west along Township Road 814 when it collided with a northbound pickup pulling a trailer on Highway 2, police said.

The teen was initially taken to the hospital in Fairview and then to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Grande Prairie before being moved to hospital in Edmonton.

The driver of the other truck suffered minor injuries in the crash. His wife was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police will not be releasing the names of the teen or the people in the other vehicle.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
