Guns, drugs seized in triple arrest

Last Updated: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 | 1:53 PM MT

Three people have been charged after 13 firearms and 35 pounds of marijuana were seized on Monday, Edmonton police say.

Officers spotted a man loading a bag into a vehicle from a home near 45th Street and 105a Avenue as part of an ongoing investigation by the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit.

The vehicle was stopped several blocks away and 2.5 pounds of marijuana were seized, police said.

A second vehicle that left the house was also stopped, and a man taken into custody, after police seized more than 30 grams of marijuana.

Police then got a warrant and searched the house. The search turned up 33 pounds of marijuana, 13 long-barreled firearms and more than $33,000 in cash, as well as hashish and hash oil, police said.

All three of the accused were in court Tuesday morning to face drug trafficking charges. One has also been charged with a firearms offence.
