RCMP in Merritt, B.C., seized more than $150,000 from an Alberta man during an impaired-driving investigation.
Police had responded Tuesday to a report of a single-vehicle crash on B.C.'s Coquihalla Highway, about eight kilometres north of Merritt.
Police said they found a Ford pickup truck with Alberta plates, showing minor damage, towing a travel trailer that had been destroyed.
The investigating officer suspected the driver was impaired, police said.
While searching the truck for liquor, police found two shopping bags containing more than $150,000 cash in vacuum-sealed bags.
The 29-year-old Canmore, Alta., man's breath sample showed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.
The driver faces impaired-driving charges and the money was seized under proceeds-of-crime legislation.
