Police are asking anyone who sees Nicholas William Patterson, 44, to dial 911. (Vancouver Police handout)Vancouver police are asking for the public's help in locating a man who is wanted for a parole violation.
Nicholas William Patterson, 44, was recently released after serving time for a number of random assaults against women in the downtown core.
"Basically what he was doing was approaching women, coming up with a story — sometimes it was that he was a visitor from San Francisco and he needed some directions or he needed some money — and if he was turned down he would slap the women," said Const. Jana McGuinness.
"There was obviously some concern at that point to get him into custody and that happened but … now he's on the street again."
Patterson was charged with one count of assault in August after a highly publicized series of attacks on women near downtown Vancouver transit stations.
McGuinness said it's believed Patterson has returned to the downtown area, in violation of the conditions of his release, after someone reported seeing him in the 600-block of Howe Street on March 10.
Patterson is described as a Caucasian male, around five feet eight inches tall and weighing 181 pounds, with a stocky build, balding hair and green eyes.
He was last seen wearing jeans and a bomber jacket.
Anyone who sees Patterson is asked not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
