A search team has rescued seven people who had to call 911 after they lost their way in a provincial park on Vancouver Island.
The two women and five children, aged two to nine, went for a spring break walk off the trails in Englishman River Falls Provincial Park south of Parksville, B.C., Thursday and then lost track of where they were.
When the women realized they couldn't find their way back to a trail, they used a cellphone to call the emergency number just before 4 p.m. PT.
A search crew was sent out, along with a police dog team and the RCMP helicopter, police said in a news release Friday.
The helicopter team located the group on a logging road about five kilometres from where they left their vehicle. The ground search vehicle got to the lost party within minutes and took them back to the park parking lot.
The group was slightly wet and cold from the rain, but suffered no injuries, RCMP said.
The provincial park is about 100 kilometres northwest of Victoria.
