Police seek information in Surrey homicide

Homicide investigators are asking for the public's help in gathering information about the shooting death of a 26-year-old Kelowna woman last month in Surrey, B.C.
Police are still trying to determine whether Roxanne Charlie was specifically targeted when she was shot to death Oct. 31, said Cpl. Dale Carr of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). The IHIT investigates homicides, police-involved shootings and in-custody deaths within the Lower Mainland areas policed by the RCMP, Abbotsford, New Westminster and Port Moody police.
The investigation into Charlie's death is "moving along," but police still hope to speak with anyone who might have seen her at several area nightclubs or noticed her interacting with other patrons, said Carr.
The mother of two pre-school youngsters had arrived in Metro Vancouver Oct. 30 to see friends and had visited several Surrey nightclubs before the shooting, he said.
She and a man were shot at an after-hours house party early the next morning, but Carr said police still do not know whether she was the intended target of the attack.
The man, who was visiting from eastern Canada, told police he did not know Charlie, said Carr. He was released from hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
