One person is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a stabbing at a home in Surrey, B.C., early Saturday.
Police say they were called to a residence near the intersection of 90 Avenue and 127 Street at approximately 1 a.m. PT.
When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple stab wounds to his back.
Staff Sgt. Dave Brown, of the Surrey RCMP, said the incident started as a verbal confrontation between two groups of people.
The fight escalated, he said, and one person was stabbed.
Brown said it is unclear whether the two groups knew each other prior to the incident.
Five people were taken into custody for questioning, but no arrests have been made.
