Woman dies, 4-year-old survives shooting in Surrey
Police also probing another shooting outside a strip club

A woman is dead but a four-year-old boy escaped injury in the second shooting in Surrey on Monday morning. (CBC) A hail of up to 20 bullets hit a car in Surrey, B.C., on Monday morning, killing the female driver while a four-year-old boy looked on from the back seat, police said.
The woman was killed around 10:30 a.m. PT while driving a white Cadillac coupe through the intersection of 148th Street and 96th Avenue in the Guildford area of Surrey, RCMP said.
"[The boy] was not harmed in any way other than, as you can you imagine, the trauma of being in a vehicle that was under fire. It's just amazing. It's amazing," said Cpl. Dale Carr of the RCMP's homicide investigation team.
Tracy Flamand happened to be driving by in the moments after the woman was hit. He said her still-moving car rolled in front of him.
"I saw her rolling into me and I pulled over, stopped, jumped out ... put my arm in the [broken] window and stopped her car," Flamand said.

Police blocked off a large portion of the area and homicide investigators were on the scene looking for witnesses in nearby homes.
"We've talked about these daytime shootings being brazen. We've talked about them crossing the line, doing them at shopping malls. Now they're doing them while there's small children in the vehicle. I haven't got words for it. It's beyond comprehension," Carr said.
The shooting was Surrey's second on Monday morning.
Police were already looking for witnesses following a shooting outside a strip club in the Whalley neighbourhood around 12:30 a.m. PT that left one man wounded.
In Monday's first shooting, someone opened fire on this Range Rover in Surrey. (CBC) Two men and two women were in a Range Rover when somebody opened fire on the vehicle, wounding the driver in the left shoulder, Surrey RCMP Sgt. Roger Morrow said.
The vehicle sped away and was heading into the neighbouring suburb of Langley when the occupants decided to call an ambulance for help, Morrow said.
The wounded man was taken to hospital with minor injuries, RCMP Cpl. Peter Thiessen said.
Investigators said they believe the intended target was a man with gang and drug affiliations who was sitting in the back seat.
"The suspects were shooting at another individual within the vehicle, an adult male, and not the driver who sustained gunshot wounds," Thiessen said.
No arrests have been made in the two separate shootings, and no names have been released.
