Rash of muggings in south Vancouver concern police

Vancouver police are warning residents in south Vancouver about a spate of violent muggings of people walking home alone late at night.

Three males working together have assaulted at least nine people since the beginning of the month, stealing everything from MP3 players to bus tickets, Const. Jana McGuinness said Tuesday.
The nine victims were men and women from various age groups, said McGuinness.
The Vancouver Police Department described the three attackers as clean-cut Indo-Canadian men who sometimes operate using a car.
In at least one instance, one of the attackers said he had a gun, but none of the victims has been seriously injured in any of the assaults.
All of the attacks have occurred between Cambie Street and just east of Nanaimo Street, and between King Edward Avenue and Marine Drive.
Police said they have made the muggings their top priority and are advising people walking home late at night in the area to travel in groups whenever possible.
