The offices of the mayor and other administrative staff at Victoria City Hall were locked down on Thursday morning following a threatening phone call against a civic employee.
Two Victoria police officers were posted on the main floor at about 9 a.m., preventing access to the offices of the mayor, the city manager and the legislative services department.
"There has been a threat against personnel at the City of Victoria this morning. And that's all I can say right now," said Victoria Mayor Alan Lowe.
"Police are investigating and we've added some security measures by having some additional police officers at city hall and we've locked down a few areas."
The lockdown was lifted late Thursday morning.
Police won't disclose the nature of the threat or to whom it was directed. They have also not said whether they have any leads in the case.
