We have arrived in Sweden!! We left home on Friday morning, for a five-hour flight to Toronto. From Toronto it was a six-hour trip to Heathrow airport in London. Then finally an hour or so later we touched down in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Fortunately for us, we’ve been so excited to compete here that its somewhat numbed the effects of jet-lag. For reference, its 6:00pm here, and 10:00am in Vancouver.

Travel does a number on anyone’s body but especially an athlete. We always have to be sure we have enough food, (carbohydrates mostly and nothing too heavy), water and sleep, which can be difficult on a long crowded flight with an unhappy baby sitting across from you.

But travel is also very exciting; there is new food to try (after your event), new places to see, and friends to catch up with.

We’ve practiced a few times since Sunday, and of course we’ve stolen glances at the medal contenders here practicing in other groups. Of course we will focus on our own material and our own game plan, but whenever we have the chance to learn from the top-ranked teams we take it and file away the information for next year.

Even practice sessions at Worlds are part of the competition, with all of the judges and technical panel in attendance, and even some people in the audience, so everywhere we go we must make a good impression. We are representing our country, our family, our coaches, and ourselves after all.

The actual competition starts on Tuesday with the Compulsory Dance event…We’re happy and excited and confident...We’ll keep you posted.
