NDP candidate Kathy Corrigan has won the neck-and-neck race for Metro Vancouver's suburban riding of Burnaby-Deer Lake by fewer than 300 votes.
Corrigan took 48 per cent of the popular vote, while B.C. Liberal candidate John Nuraney finished close behind at 46 per cent.
The two candidates were separated by about 50 votes for much of Tuesday evening, but ended the night 287 ballots apart.
Green candidate G. Bruce Friesen received just over five per cent of the votes.
In the 2005 general election, Nuraney won by fewer than 400 votes.
Corrigan is the wife of current Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan.
