What it needs to win:
For the referendum to be binding, the approval level must be:
- at least 60% of the total popular vote, province-wide, AND
- more than 50% of the votes in at least 51 of the province's 85 electoral districts.
If the two thresholds are met, government is required to introduce legislation to implement BC-STV in sufficient time for it to be in place for the May 2013 General Election.
Profile

- Vancouver-Point Grey takes in most western part of Vancouver.
- English Bay and Fraser River form three of the boundaries. Eastern border is Arbutus Street/West 16th Avenue/eastern boundary of Pacific Spirit Regional Park.
- It covers West Point Grey, Kitsilano and University Endowment Lands.
- It includes UBC and its golf course, Camosun Bog and the beaches and parks along English Bay.
- Includes spacious homes on large lots, rental suites in heritage homes, condos.
- In 2006 census, 53.4% had university degrees, the highest in British Columbia.
- Average family income was fourth highest in B.C.
- Rental dwellings, 51%, exceeded owned dwellings, 49%.
- The visible minority population was 26%.

In 2008 redistribution, kept 92% of riding.
Political History
- Vancouver-Point Grey: In 1986, Social Credit Kim Campbell and New Democrat Darlene Marzari were elected when it was a 2-member riding.
- New Democrat Tom Perry won March 15, 1989 by-election held after Campbell resigned to run federally.
- In 1991, Marzari defeated Liberal Barry Burke by 3,054 votes.
- In 1996, Liberal Gordon Campbell, the incumbent from Vancouver-Quilchena, defeated New Democrat Jim Green by 1,563 votes.
- In 2001, Campbell defeated Green candidate Varya Rubin by 8,336 votes; sworn in as Premier on June 5, 2001.
- In 2005, Campbell defeated New Democrat Mel Lehan by 2,250 votes; remained as Premier.
