Let the online campaign begin!

Well, whether you like it or not, the B.C. election campaign has started.

The election signs will be going up…the politicians will be out there vying for your precious vote. But I expect this campaign won’t only be fought out on the streets but online as well. And that’s where I come in!

Throughout this campaign I’ll be watching the “online campaign” and blogging about it right here at Anu Online! With the rise of Facebook, Twitter and blogs, a community of people who want to know and be heard has come to life! These online users are a very powerful group. They’re excellent at getting their message out but they’re even better at doing it fast... And that makes for an exciting campaign!

A perfect example, the Barak Obama presidential campaign, it “ROCKED” the online campaign, no other way to put it! They used the web and social networking sites to get their message out fast. And Twitter was their favourite tool. Which happens to be mine as well!

So can our B.C. political parties keep up? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see…

Now, it’s not just the parties I’ll be watching. I’ll be looking out for the political bloggers and introduce you to them right here in my blog. I’ll also be watching YouTube to see what role it plays in this campaign and post the videos that are making waves online. And I’ll be trolling the web to see what other interesting sites pop up during the election as well.

As I give you the scoop on the campaign online, remember this is a conversation between you and me, so don’t leave me hanging, okay? I’d love to hear what you think of the online campaign so far. And one more thing…I can’t be everywhere and see everything (although I’d like to believe I can!), so if you see something online TELL ME ABOUT IT! Maybe it’s a website I should know about, or a YouTube video I should see or maybe it’s a blog I should read. PASS IT ALONG!

Just send me an email at bcnews@cbc.ca and maybe you’ll see your submission mentioned in my blog! And check back often…I’ll be updating all the time!

And don’t forget to check out the rest of our B.C. Votes site, it’s full of great information…and of course, I think it “ROCKS”!
