Do Crew mission:

Double Do Crew event at Inn From the Cold

When: Friday November 25th

Where: Inn From the Cold Family Shelter

           Suite 106 110 11th Ave SE

Time:   Two shifts 8am - noon and noon to 4pm

Here's our mission: to help Calgary's first Family Emergency Shelter with some much needed renovation work.  The Inn from the Cold Family Shelter provides emergency shelter, support and programs to homeless children, their families and others in need.  The shelter is housed in an building that's nearly one hundred years old - so it needs a little work

This is a Do Crew first!  There are two seperate Do Crews at work for this volunteer project.   Angela's Do Crew (I need 10 volunteers per shift) and Mike's Do Crew. Mike Youden of One Call Maintenance has assembled a crack team of skilled trades people including Lawrence Moss from One Call Maintenance, Ryan Jakovic from Greened Out Landscaping and Richard Notter flooring expert. All are volunteering their time. Together we'll get the shelter in shape for the holiday season.

Mike's Do Crew will be renovating one the shelter's 2nd floor bathrooms.  A complete reno that is going to take a few days to complete.  Angela's Do Crew will be doing a complete makeover of one of the family areas in the shelter.  Lots of painting and creativity required.

Here are a few of the items we need to complete our mission:

3 gallons of paint - Donated Thanks!
drywall (4 to 5 sheets) -
cork boards and stencils ( sayings) for the walls
decor items for the room (minimal) could include cushions
an area carpet, (5' x 8')
stable shelving unit to hold books and games
appropriate family games

If you can volunteer a few hours or would like to donate to the project, please send me an email. docrew@cbc.ca
