Thanks Calgary!
The 7th annual CBC/Calgary Reads Book Sale held May 1 to 3 was a tremendous success; raising more than $97,000 for Calgary Reads Society. More than 3,000 Calgarians streamed through the doors of Triwood Arena for this shopping bonanza; making it the largest and most profitable with proceeds going to help kids in grades one and two improve their reading skills.
CBC and Calgary Reads Society thank everyone who helped make this event a success. From the students and volunteers who tirelessly sorted and priced boxes upon boxes of books to the two bank managers who spent an entire day hauling books from 47 branches, none of this could have been done without you.
Special thanks also to all of the organizations, groups, schools, churches and businesses that provided support in the form of food, storage lockers, surveys, entertainment, recycling, storage boxes, publicity and entertainment. Appreciation also goes to our fans on the various social network sites such as singing and recording star Jann Arden and those MLAs who promoted the event on Twitter.
