Come to the Cabaret - in Quebec
A Quebecois spin on the classic "Cabaret" is coming to a city near you. Christopher Isherwood wrote the original story that inspired the musical, with his short novel "Goodbye to Berlin," back in 1939. But it wasn't until the 1972 Oscar-winning musical film starring Liza Minelli that the story became world-famous. Set in the decadent Kit Kat Club in Berlin, British writer Clifford Bradshaw (played by Eric Paulhus) encounters cabaret singer and dancer Sally Bowles (played by singer Brigitte Boisjoli). The CBC's Julia Caron had the chance to meet with Brigitte and Eric just before the premiere to find out what they love about this French-language production of Cabaret, which will be touring the province this year.
