Eyewitness accounts of Orcas trapped near Inukjuak

orca.JPGA pod of killer whales captured the world's attention this week after they got trapped in a hole in the ice off the east coast of Hudson Bay. It now seems they were able to escape.  On Breakaway, we heard from eye witnesses to the plight of the whales, including 21-year-old Martha Asudluak of Inukjuak. She caught a snowmobile ride out to see the whales on Wednesday. Afterwards, she spoke with the CBC's Catou MacKinnon.

He had been ready to take measures to try to keep the whales alive before he discovered they managed to move on. Epoo spoke with the CBC's Catou MacKinnon on Thursday, and asked him to describe how he felt when he learned the whales had escaped.
