Fire forces evacuation on North Shore
Fast-moving forest fires forced the emergency evacuation of the village of Baie-Johan-Beetz, on the North Shore of the province, just before midnight last night. The community of 93 people was safely relocated to nearby Havre-St. Pierre. The CBC's Julia Caron spoke with Geneviève Tremblay, who runs an outfitting company at the historic Pourvoirie Baie-Johan-Beetz. We also heard from Jacques Viger, head of civil protection, about SOPFEU's efforts to protect the town. [Photo: Genevieve Tremblay. More photos on our Facebook page]
