Shawinigan band East Road formed in the Mags

bwy East Road.jpgShawinigan-based band East Road came together two years on a trip to the Magdalen Islands. Why "East Road"? They were simply on the road... driving east... from the Mauricie through to the Mags when they decided to form the band. The CBC's Rachelle Solomon sat down with JeanMichel Renaud and Rami Renno, two of the three musicians in the band, to talk about their travels, their music, and to shuffle around in JeanMichel's guitar case.

Augusta Webster-Fenton at 100 years strong

A promised conversation with Augusta Webster-Fenton of Trois-Rivières, who turned 100 last week, and who Jacquie had a chance to catch up with yesterday.  They talked about the very early days when the first paper mill was built in that city, and how - when the company expanded - it brought Mrs. Fenton across the Pacific, in wartime, to Australia and back.

Breakaway listener Augusta Fenton-Webster turned 100 years of age today. Marianne Philippeaux, is the coordinator at the seniors home where Augusta lives in Trois-Rivières, and where the phone has been ringing all day with congratulations.
