La Journée des Patriotes: Remembered
As the rest of the country prepares for Victoria Day Weekend celebrations, Quebec gets ready for the 10th anniversary of la Journée des Patriotes. But in the decade since the provincial government changed this holiday Monday in May from what was in formerly known as Dollard des Ormeaux, and even earlier as la Fete de la Reine, it seems as though people may be unsure about what the day actually commemorates. Our Julia Caron took to the streets of Vieux Québec to find out more. We also hear from retired teacher and historian Jan Morgan to get her thoughts about the historical significance of les Patriotes.
