Bulwer's Purple Prose Project
The Townships village of Bulwer is asking you to write the worst possible opening sentence for an imagined novel. Jacquie spoke to Purple Prose Project organizer Rachel Garber who says, the inspiration came from Lord Bulwer-Lytton, the Victorian writer who is the namesake of the village and who coined, "It was a dark and stormy night." It's that phrase that lead Emeritus Professor Scott Rice of California to start the renown Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest. He too was our guest, encouraging Bulwer to have fun with purple prose.
