Mordecai Richler 1997
Montreal's Mordecai Richler served on the jury of the inaugural Giller Prize. Three years later, he himself became a recipient of the literary award for his novel Barney's Version. It was another accolade in an acclaimed literary career that had already seen him win two Governor General's Awards and the Commonwealth Writers Prize.
