About TD Kids Book Club
To celebrate the joy of reading, the TD Kids Book Club connects young readers with the books nominated for the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award through book clubs in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
In each city, the CBC partners with a community organization. Each book club features a visit from one of the authors nominated for the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award. The kids read the book and prepare questions for the discussion with the author. The book clubs are hosted by a CBC personality and taped for broadcast.
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award is given out at a gala evening in Toronto in the fall of 2012. The event and prizes are administered by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. Contact them (or click on their link) to find out about more Canadian children's book prizes and activities.
The TD Canadian Children's Literature Award was created in 2004 to celebrate the most distinguished books of the year written by Canadian authors for children ages 1 through 12. The winning book is marked by conspicuous excellence and/or eminence, individually distinct, and noted for significant achievement with excellence in quality. Books published in any genre are eligible.
The grand prize winner receives $25,000. The publisher of the winning book receives $2,500. $20,000 is divided among the remaining honourees.
