CBC Creative Nonfiction Prize

Finalists for the 2014 CBC Creative Nonfiction Prize announced

CBC’s Canada Writes and our partners, the Canada Council for the Arts, Air Canada's enRoute magazine and The Banff Centre, are pleased to announce the finalists for the 2014 CBC Creative Nonfiction Prize.

The finalists were selected from over 1,800 writers from across the country. They are (in alphabetical order): Jennifer Clark of Calgary, AB; Brandee Eubank of New Brigden, AB; Sarah Habben of St. Albert, AB; Patti-Kay Hamilton of Fort Smith, NT; and Patricia Webb of Port Moody, BC.

Grand Prize winner
The Grand Prize winner was announced on Monday, July 28. The winner is Patti-Kay Hamilton of Fort Smith, NT for "The Hunter and The Swan."

Congratulations Patti-Kay!

In addition to a cash prize of $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, Patti-Kay Hamilton will receive a two-week writing residency at The Banff Centre and will be published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine. The other finalists will each receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, and will be published right here on Canada Writes.
