Notes on Montreal: Mike Rud's music and literature project

On Canada Writes we have talked about how music influences and inspires writers but, as our colleagues at CBC Music know, the reverse is also true: musicians can be inspired by literature.

Notes on Montreal is a project by guitarist Mike Rud inspired by the writing of some of Quebec’s literary giants including: Gabrielle Roy, Michel Tremblay and Dany Laferriere, alongside local anglo authors Mordecai Richler and Heather O'Neill.

When asked how the literature would be incorporated into his work, Rud said, “Actually it's probably more the case that the groove of the tune and its stylistic bag are connected to the literature in question.”
