After we announced the Canada Reads 2014 winner -- The Orenda by Joseph Boyden -- we turned it over to Canadians. After reading the books and following the debates we asked: which novel do you think should have won Canada Reads?

It turns out that this year, Canadians and our panel agree! The Orenda is the Canada Reads People's Choice champion! Thanks to everyone who voted.

canadian-character-showdown-180-101.pngThis year's Canada Reads experience may be winding down, but, if you're anything like us, you have CanLit on the brain all year 'round. Let's keep the fun and the discussion going. CBC Books is launching a new campaign to identify the most iconic literary Canadian character ever. Send us your picks and your reasons why you think they qualify!

Starting soon: To encourage thoughtful and respectful conversations, for all new accounts, first and last names will appear with each submission to CBC/Radio-Canada's online communities (except in children and youth-oriented communities). Pseudonyms will no longer be permitted for existing community members in June.
