Stacey McKenzie is defending On a Cold Road: Tales of Adventure in Canadian Rock by Dave Bidini.
Often called Canada's most unique fashion icon, Stacey McKenzie had to fight her way into the fashion industry.
She was continually told that her look just wasn't marketable. But McKenzie ignored the naysayers and pounded the pavement until she got her big break, landing a show with her idol, Jean Paul Gaultier.
The Canadian supermodel has been a regular on the runways of Paris, New York, London and Milan for top designers like Christian Lacroix, Alexander McQueen and, of course, Gaultier.
McKenzie has appeared in a number of high profile campaigns for major players in the fashion industry, including Calvin Klein, Benetton and MAC Cosmetics. She's also worked with top photographers like Annie Leibovitz and Patrick Demarchelier, while gracing the pages and covers of numerous prominent magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Essence.
The fashion guru is also a regular coach and judge on the reality television show Canada's Next Top Model, hosted by Jay Manuel.
McKenzie often channels her drive and hard-knock experiences as a motivational speaker and an entrepreneur. She started Walk This Way Workshops in order to share her industry expertise with aspiring models.
McKenzie was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and lives in Toronto.
