The Canada Reads publishers support literacy by donating books to libraries, and the publisher of the winning book makes a financial donation to a national adult literacy organization. This year's recipient is Frontier College's Aboriginal Literacy Program.
Since 1899, Frontier College has been recruiting and training volunteers to deliver literacy programs to children, youth and adults in high-needs communities across Canada. Their Aboriginal Literacy Programs operate in more than 60 First Nation and Métis communities; many are in the most isolated communities in Canada. Additionally, Frontier College contributes books into these communities.
