Listen to Douglas Gibson read from Two Solitudes

Each day this week, CBC Books will present a reading from one of the Canada Reads 2013 contenders. Today, Douglas Gibson reads from Hugh MacLennan's Two Solitudes. Actor Jay Baruchel is defending Two Solitudes during the debates February 11-14.

In this clip (runs 4:40), Marius, the elder Tallard brother, has just left a meeting where he made a passionate speech about the protection of French-Canadian culture. He's accosted by a belligerent English-speaking soldier who followed him from the meeting, and a fight ensues.
