She's a musician who has been in the limelight for more than a decade, though she's only 30. Calgary native Sara Quin, one half of the indie music sensation known as Tegan & Sara, has been singing and writing songs with her twin sister, Tegan, since she was 15.
The success of Tegan & Sara's first album, Under Feet Like Ours, in 1999, catapulted Sara and her sister into stardom. Elliott Roberts, Neil Young's manager, signed them shortly after hearing their debut album. Tours with Neil Young and a performance on the David Letterman Show soon followed.
Together, Tegan & Sara have released six albums. They've also toured with the likes of The Killers, Cyndi Lauper and Paramore, and played iconic music festivals Glastonbury and Coachella.
The reach of their music is extensive, particularly in the U.S., where the duo's music has appeared on the soundtracks for such television series as Grey's Anatomy, Melrose Place, 90210, Parenthood, Veronica Mars, The Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill.
In 2009, Tegan & Sara released their latest album, Sainthood. The critically acclaimed release was accompanied by ON/IN/AT, a self-published, three-volume set of books chronicling a year in the life of Tegan and Sara in both words and pictures.
A voracious reader, Sara Quin divides her time between Montreal and New York.
