Alan is known to many as an actor, author and songwriter. From his '80s sitcom reign as Jason Seaver on Growing Pains to his notable guest spots on How I Met Your Mother and CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Alan is no stranger to success.

How does he plan to succeed in the Canada Reads ring? By focusing on how The Game is about more than hockey. While this sports classic focuses on Ken Dryden's final season with the Montreal Canadiens — the best team in the NHL at the time — Alan argues that this book is about so much more. "It really defines the Canadian spirit and the Canadian soul," he says. "It's about Canadian passion."

Alan plans to prepare for the February debates by knowing his book inside and out. "It's so rich, there's so much in it," he adds.
