Dave Bidini wears many hats. In addition to his trademark fedora, he's a musician and a writer. In 1994, Dave Bidini was a member of the Rheostatics and they were opening for one of Canada's greatest bands: The Tragically Hip. The antics of this coast-to-coast road trip became the inspiration for On a Cold Road, Bidini's first book.

On a Cold Road is also a tribute to Canadian rock. Part of the book is a look at Dave's own experience as a travelling Canadian musican, but the rest is filled with anecdotes from Canadian musical greats like Gord Downie, Bruce Cockburn, BTO and many more.
Bidini's struggle to make it as a working musican resonated with Stacey McKenzie, a model who had to claw her way to the top. That's part of the reason why she chose to defend it in the Canada Reads debates on February 6,7,8 and 9.
Bidini is no stranger to the Canada Reads ring. In 2008, he was crowned the Canada Reads champion when he defended King Leary by Paul Quarrington. As one panelist to another, what advice does Bidini have for Stacey? Find out by watching the video below the jump!
