Meet indie artist Sara Quin

Last week, we dove into The Bone Cage by Angie Abdou. This week, we turn our attention to Essex County by Jeff Lemire. We'll talk to his title's defender, Sara Quin, and hold a live chat with the author. It should be good times here on the Canada Reads website, so be sure to come back!

Calgary native Sara Quin, one half of the indie music sensation known as Tegan & Sara, has been singing and writing songs with her twin sister, Tegan, since she was 15.

The success of Tegan & Sara's first album, Under Feet Like Ours, in 1999, catapulted Sara and her sister to stardom. Elliott Roberts, Neil Young's manager, signed them shortly after hearing their debut album. Tours with Neil Young and a performance on the David Letterman Show soon followed.

Together, Tegan & Sara have released six albums. They've also toured with the likes of The Killers, Cyndi Lauper and Paramore, and played iconic music festivals Glastonbury and Coachella.

We talked to Sara about why she chose Essex County, how she'll prep for the debates and more!

You can win a copy of Essex County signed by Jeff Lemire.
