Meet CNN broadcaster Ali Velshi

Last week, we looked at Ami McKay's The Birth House here on the Canada Reads site. This week, we're going from small-town gossip to big-time politics as we turn our attention to The Best Laid Plans by Terry Fallis. We'll be exploring the book in detail, we'll feature a live chat with Terry on Thursday (at 2 p.m. ET) and we'll interview Ali about gearing up for the battle of the books.

But first, let's get better acquainted with Ali, shall we?

An award-winning CNN anchor and the news network's chief business correspondent, Ali Velshi has covered every major news story from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico last year to the financial collapse of Fannie Mae and Lehman Brothers in 2008.

Ali's career in broadcast journalism goes back more than a decade. Before joining CNN, he was an anchor at CNNfn, hosting such shows as Your Money, Business Unusual, Insights and The Money Gang. Prior to that, he hosted The Business News, airing nightly on Report on Business Television

When Ali came to the Canada Reads 2011 launch, we asked him about his reading habits, why he chose The Best Laid Plans and more!

You can win a copy of The Best Laid Plans, signed by both Ali Velshi and Terry Fallis.

To enter the contest, just watch the video and find out the answer to the following question:

Send your answer to canadareads@cbc.ca for a chance to win! The contest closes at midnight ET on Friday, January 14. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the correct entries.
