Listen to Island Morning's Battle of the Book Clubs

islandmorning_main.jpgEvery year, Island Morning, the CBC Radio morning show on Prince Edward Island, hosts the Battle of the Book Clubs. Five book clubs across the province choose a Canada Reads contender to defend, and then share their thoughts with the show before duking it out for the Canada Reads Book Club crown at an exciting live event in Charlottetown.

This year four book clubs were involved, and they chose their title from the Canada Reads Top 10.

Matt Rainnie hosted this year's event, which took place on January 20, 2011, at The Guild in downtown Charlottetown.

The 2011 contenders were:

  • The Bluefield Book Club defending Essex County by Jeff Lemire
  • The Something Witty Book Club defending Life of Pi by Yann Martel
  • The Slackers defending The Birth House by Ami McKay
  • The Ultimate Fiction Club defends The Best Laid Plans by Terry Fallis

Listen to each book club's pitch and the exciting live event below!
