Lorne Cardinal and Anne Giardini on Canada Reads launch day

This holiday week, kick back and relive the highlights of our live launch, which took place on November 24. Jian Ghomeshi hosted the event, which featured all the players at the CBC Broadcast Centre in downtown Toronto. This year's panelists came ready to play and weren't above making some friendly (and not-so-friendly!) jabs at their competition.

The third panelist to be revealed was actor Lorne Cardinal, best known for playing officer Davis Quinton on Corner Gas. Lorne raised his flag for CanLit bigwig Carol Shields and her final novel, Unless.

Can't wait to read Unless and the rest of the Canada Reads books? We've got an exciting contest for a chance to win the complete Canada Reads prize pack! Tune into CBC Radio One all week and listen for readings from Unless and the other Canada Reads contenders for your chance to win. You can find complete contest details here!

Lorne Cardinal is defending Unless in this year's Canada Reads debates, which will air on CBC Radio One on February 7, 8 and 9 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. (2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Newfoundland).
