Ali Velshi and Terry Fallis at the Canada Reads launch

This is the time of year when it's customary to review the highlights of the past 12 months and trot out "best of" and "worst of" lists in various categories. This week at Canada Reads, we've put together our own look back: we're posting video clips from our live launch event on November 24 at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto, hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. Each day, we're featuring one of the five panelists and the author they're defending.

Today, take a peek at the introduction of CNN broadcaster Ali Velshi, who is championing The Best Laid Plans by Terry Fallis.

Can't wait to read The Best Laid Plans and the rest of the Canada Reads books? We've got an exciting contest for a chance to win the complete Canada Reads prize pack! Tune into CBC Radio One this week and listen for a reading from one of the Canada Reads contenders for your chance to win. You can find complete contest details here!

Ali Velshi is defending The Best Laid Plans in this year's Canada Reads debates, which will air on CBC Radio One on February 7, 8 and 9 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. (2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Newfoundland).
