Welcome to the discussion thread all about Wayson Choy`s The Jade Peony! I'm your moderator, Angela@CBC, and I'm pretty excited about this book.
I read it in about four days, cover to cover, consuming it like I hadn't read a book in a very long time. If you're interested, I'd like to hear your thoughts about this Canada Reads contender.
What did you love, what did you hate, and what should panelist Samantha Nutt use to argue this book to win Canada Reads 2010?
I will be sure to direct her to some of your more convincing arguments, and who knows, it may help The Jade Peony progress to that number one spot!
Let's start the discussion here: The Jade Peony is told using the voices of three of the children in the family, Jook-Liang, Jung-Sum and Sekky - did you find that style of story-telling, switching between voices, satisfying or upsetting?
