Jen Knoch's one-minute pitch for Generation XJen Knoch of the Keepin' it Real Book Club delights again with another Canada Read's one-minute pitch, this time for Douglas Coupland's Generation X, which will be defended by Roland Pemberton (a.k.a. Cadence Weapon) when the debates begin in less than a month on CBC Radio One.
Want to know what else Jen thinks about Generation X? Read her full review on the KIRBC blog. Here's a taste: "As for the escapist slackers who are our protagonists, at first I viewed them with an alternating amusement and annoyance. Sure, they are often painfully self-aware...and annoyingly buoyed by their own righteousness, but by the end of the novel I found that unlike some of Coupland's later creations who are jaded and glib wit machines, Andy, Dag and Claire are still fragile beneath their hipster cool and elaborate bedtime stories."
