When 11-year-old Marley Dias got tired of reading books about "white boys and their dogs" last year, the New Jersey resident started the #1000BlackGirlBooks movement to create a library of books featuring black female characters.

Dias's campaign met (and surpassed) its goal this month, but we were so inspired by her project that we've come up with our own list. Here are 25 great Canadian titles to add to #1000BlackGirlBooks - and thanks to the generosity of their publishers, many of them will be sent to the campaign.
