Canada Post releases awesome Alice Munro tribute stamp

Just in time to celebrate her 84th birthday, Canada Post has released a rather striking Alice Munro tribute stamp.

Munro, who was born in 1931 in Wingham, Ont., is widely recognized as one of Canada's most critically acclaimed writers and a master of the short story. While she has published consistently since the 1960s (some of her most referenced works include Lives of Girls and Women and The Love of a Good Woman), there was a renewed surge of international interest in her life and legacy after she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013.

She's one of Canada's most decorated writers, having won a litany of prizes including several Governor General's Literary Awards, two Giller Prizes, and the Man Booker International Prize.

Designed by Marcio Morgado, the new stamp features a photo of the author taken by her daughter Sheila and samples of her own handwriting.
