Kate Cayley wins 2015 Trillium Book Award

how-you-were-born-330.pngToronto-based writer Kate Cayley has won the 2015 Trillium Book Award for best English-language book.

Cayley's collection of short stories How You Were Born beat out a truly impressive category of contenders for the $20,000 prize. Margaret Atwood (The Stone Mattress), Thomas King (The Back of the Turtle), Dionne Brand (Love Enough), James King (Old Masters), and Edmund Metatawabin with Alexandra Shimo (Up Ghost River).

Trillium Logo.pngIn the poetry category, Brecken Hancock won for her collection Broom Broom.

There were two French-language award winners: Michel Dallaire for best French book (Violoncelle pour lune d'automne), and Micheline Marchand for best French children's literature (Mauvaise mine).
