Chris Hadfield's book to become TV show pilot

Chris Hadfield's memoir An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth will be adapted for television, Deadline.com reports. ABC won the deal - which includes a commitment to produce a pilot - in what Deadline is calling "a very competitive situation."

The show will be a multi-camera sitcom about an astronaut who, after completing his final mission in space, must re-adapt to life on Earth. Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker are behind the show, it is part of a larger deal they have with Warner Bros TV.

It is not the first book-based project for Halpern and Schumacker. They also produced the book-turned-television-shows S#*! My Dad Says and Surviving Jack.

Hadfield will be a consulting producer on the pilot. Last fall, The Nature of Things looked at how Hadfield reignited society's love of space. Watch it below:
