The world's most beautiful libraries

The doors to Halifax's new state-of-the-art central library won't open until November, but CNN has taken notice and listed it as one of the "10 eye-popping new buildings that you'll see you in 2014."

Located on Spring Garden Road, one of Halifax's busiest streets, the $57 million project will outfit the library with versatile public spaces for performances and presentations, cafes and food service, and fantastic views of the harbor from the building's top floor.

CNN said the new library "aims to become the cultural hub of Canada's second-smallest province. Designed by Danish architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen, it blends the distinctive atmosphere of local landscape with northern European design heritage."

Indeed, it's a beautifully designed building, as you can see from the concept drawing in the image gallery. We've included some pictures of other beautiful libraries around the world, which Halifax will soon be able to boast about.
