Norstedts, the Swedish publisher of the late author Stieg Larsson's hugely popular Millennium
series, announced Tuesday it has signed an agreement with writer David Lagercrantz to pen a sequel slated for publication in August 2015.
Eva Gedin, head of the publisher, told the Associated Press the new book would be an original work that includes no material from Larsson's unfinished fourth book.
Larsson died in 2004 of a heart attack before he saw the publication of the first Millennium novel -- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
. The cyberpunk-influenced crime series became a smash hit, spawning highly successful Swedish and Hollywood film adaptations. The books have sold more than 75 million copies in some 50 countries.-With files from The Associated PressMore on CBC Books
