Amazon's top 20 pre-ordered fall releases

david-goliath.jpgNew books by Malcolm Gladwell and Margaret Atwood are among the most anticipated books coming this fall, according to online retail giant Amazon.

The company released a list of its 20 most pre-ordered books with fall release dates this week and blockbuster series are most in demand. The House of Hades, the fourth book in Rick Riordan's bestselling Heroes of Olympus series, leads all other pre-ordered titles. Never Go Back by Lee Child, the next addition to the action-adventure Jack Reacher collection, came in at number two on the list, followed by Sycamore Row by legal thriller mastermind John Grisham. Sycamore Row is a particularly buzzed about book because it's a sequel to his 1989 debut novel A Time to Kill.

maddaddam.jpgMalcolm Gladwell received the sixth highest number of pre-orders for David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants, his first book in four years.

Margaret Atwood also returns with a new novel this year with MaddAddam, which is the final book in the dystopian trilogy that began with 2003's Oryx and Crake and 2009's The Year of the Flood.

Other highly anticipated books include works by Stephen King, Thomas Pynchon, and a third Bridget Jones book by Helen Fielding.
