Award-winning children's author Patricia MacLachlan, best known for the classic Sarah, Plain and Tall, is writing a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shootings last December.

The book, titled Snowflakes Fall, will contain illustrations by MacLachlan's longtime friend and former Newton, Conn., resident Steven Kellogg, Random House Children's Books announced Monday.

The book, which is expected to come out November 12, will feature words and images about the Connecticut community that saw a gunman kill 20 young students and six staff members before fatally shooting himself.

The publisher says it will be donating a portion of the proceeds to a Sandy Hook community organization.
