Johnny Depp starts book imprint

Actor Johnny Depp will be starting a book imprint and already has plans to publish a new biography about singer-songwriter Bob Dylan.

Depp's imprint, which will have the same name as his production company Infinitum Nihil (meaning "Nothing is forever"), will be part of HarperCollins Publishers, the Associated Press reports.

JohnnyDepp-300-203.jpg"I pledge, on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, that we will do our best to deliver publications worthy of peoples' time, of peoples' concern, publications that might ordinarily never have breached the parapet," Depp said in a statement released by the publishing company.

The Bob Dylan book, currently titled The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan and slated to be published in 2015, is being written by best-selling historian Douglas Brinkley, who has penned biographies of Henry Ford and Theodore Roosevelt.

Dylan and Brinkley also will collaborate on the editing and publication of a previously announced novel by one of Dylan's heroes, folk musician Woody Guthrie, who died in 1967.

The novel, House of Earth, was completed by Guthrie in 1947 but was only recently discovered. The new imprint is scheduled to release it in January.

Depp has long had a passion for literature. In addition to starring in many literary adaptations (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Alice in Wonderland, Finding Neverland), he co-wrote the Grammy-nominated liner notes for the documentary Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson and recently announced he would be collaborating with a Swedish production company to produce a Shakespeare-inspired TV series.
