casual-vacancy-300.jpgPublisher Little, Brown and Company released the cover of J.K. Rowling's first post-Harry Potter book The Casual Vacancy this week.

The book, which goes on sale worldwide September 27, is Rowling's first novel for an adult audience. The plot centres around a seemingly idyllic English town named Pagford that harbours some deep secrets and hostilities. When a member of the parish council suddenly dies in his early forties, the town is thrown into upheaval as a heated election for the empty seat takes place.

Rowling's Harry Potter series, which ended in 2007, has sold more than 450 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 73 languages.
